Looking After Your Plaque

We take pride in the quality of the work that we produce and we endeavour to make our products as water tight as possible. However as they are wooden frames, it has been painted with lightfast paint to preserve colour and has had 3 coats of yacht varnish.

We recommend that ever 12-18 months that you clean the item and then apply a further thin coat of clear yacht varnish to protect it from the weather. How often you do this, will vary depending on where the item has been placed and the weather conditions. We advise customer to bring the items indoors during the winter months, however we know that our customers in the UK leave them out all year round.

Tips and advice:

  • Do not put where it is likely to be constantly exposed to wet or damp condition as this will cause black mould to destroy the item

  • Bring the item inside during the winter months

  • Place in a sheltered position from direct rain

  • periodically clean and apply a thin coat of yacht varnish.

  • placing in direct sunlight will help your item dry after it rains
